Chief Inspector's Annual Report
The report by Her Majesty's Chief Inspector of Education, Children's Services and Skills may be downloaded here. In general terms schools are improving considerably and the overall national picture is one of largely effective schools with committed and competent leadership. There are more good and outstanding schools than ever before.
In August 2012 the percentage of pupils attending good or better schools was 70% nationally; in the area covered by the Joint Education Team the proportion was 89%. Nationally, 31% of schools were judged to be satisfactory or inadequate. In the Dioceses of Durham and Newcastle we had 10% satisfactory and 0% inadequate. We are not complacent but do want to place on record our heartfelt congratulations to all those who are impressively committed to the improvement of schools and the life chances of our children and young people in the Dioceses of Durham and Newcastle. |
