ParishesIn the Dioceses of Durham and Newcastle we believe that young people are an integral part of the church. We endorse the view of General Synod that Church schools stand at the centre of the Church’s mission to the nation. Beyond this, our work with Church schools is part of the overall engagement of the church with young people in schools and parishes, and we seek to be generous, engaged and open as we discern the ways in which God’s kingdom is to grow and flourish in our dioceses. In our engagement with young people and adults in schools and parishes we seek to nourish those of the Christian faith, encourage those of other faiths and challenge those who have no faith.
Parishes are looking for new ways to engage with children and young people. Churches and schools exist to serve the areas in which they are placed, and working together can contribute to the building of strong and vibrant communities. Church schools are an invaluable resource, bringing opportunities and insights from the world of education and enriching the wider mission and ministry of the church.
